Despite efforts to keep your teeth healthy, cavities are sometimes unavoidable. Luckily, we offer composite fillings! A composite filling is made of a mix of different substances, including glass and plastic. Dental fillings can restore teeth that have been damaged by decay. Dental fillings can be color matched to your teeth.
If you are experiencing toothache or sensitivity, ask Dr. Ali about dental fillings.
Dental fillings will build the tooth up and restore its natural function. White fillings are stain resistant and can protect the tooth from future damage.
DIRECT VERSUS INDIRECT DENTAL FILLINGS
Direct restorations are for small fillings and can be completed in a single procedure. Dental fillings for cavities are the most common. Indirect restorations are for larger fillings or to replace more tooth structure. These types of restorations usually require multiple appointments. Some common indirect restorations include veneers, crowns, dentures, and implants.
For indirect fillings, Dr. Ali will shape the tooth, take impressions and send them to a dental laboratory, during your first appointment. You can wear a temporary one, until you return for the permanent fillings about 1 week later.
A local anesthetic will be administered to you by Dr. Ali, to ensure your comfort, for direct or indirect dental fillings. The decayed portion of the tooth will be removed, the surrounding area cleaned, and the cavity will then be filled.
